During the months of September and October, Dr. Tim Buto and Dr. Rick Alter are thinking pink to help support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For every patient who chooses pink ties for their braces, the doctors will donate $1 to the Ribbons of Life campaign.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Ribbons of Life is a local organization dedicated to breast cancer education, advocacy and support. The Ribbons of Life organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity run by unpaid professional volunteers that strives to keep all donations local. All money raised goes directly to their breast cancer cause.
Buto and Alter Orthodontics is delighted to donate to Ribbons of Life. “Over the years, we have had mothers and patients diagnosed with breast cancer,” says Dr Buto, “and this is a great way to support a worthy cause.” In fact, Dr. Alter’s father is a breast cancer survivor. The office is encouraging their patients to place pink colored ties on their braces. Dr. Buto mentioned a touching moment when one boy chose pink to honor his mother who was fighting breast cancer.
Dr. Alter emphasizes that the office is always striving to make the orthodontic experience a pleasant one. Incorporating a donation to fight breast cancer along with the fun of having colored braces makes orthodontics both fashionable and rewarding.
So if you see someone with pink colors on their braces, they may not just be enjoying a colorful smile but also making a contribution to fight breast cancer.
